Expectations are blooming of the Sri Lankan squad of Commonwealth games

The month of July has commenced with next expectations in the heart of sports fans as the 20th Commonwealth games are scheduled to be held in Glasgow , Scotland , United Kingdom from 23 July to 3 August 2014 .

A well-known Nishantha Piyasena , Assistant Secretary of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka has been appointed as the manager of the squad . One hundred four talented , skillful and determined players will be representing Sri Lanka in this fabulous occasion.

The Commonwealth games have commenced in 1930 and Sri Lanka was fortunate enough to win 13 medals along with 4 gold , 6 silver and 3 bronze . The highest numbers of medals were taken for Boxing .

Athletics , Weight Lifting are the other categories . Chinthana Vidanage will take part in 20th Commonwealth games and he’s about to crowns as the highest number of medal winners in the Commonwealth games for Sri Lanka .
