2nd Sri Lanka Grand Prix Chess Tournament

Romesh Weerawardena seals the title

The only International Master in Sri Lanka Romesh Weerawardena won the Championship convincingly at the 2nd Sri Lanka Grand Prix Chess Tournament.

2nd Sri Lanka Grand prix was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka with the aim of giving exciting Chess to the top players in Sri Lanka who are the hope of coming to the National Chess Team. A total prize fund of Rs. 100,000/= was offered to the winners. Romesh scored a total of 8.5 points out of the 11 points possible.

Prasanna Kurukulasuriya scored 8 points to win the 2nd place while G.C. Anuruddha scored 7.5 points to receive the 3rd place. The 2nd Sri Lanka Grandprix which was a round robin, 11 round event was organized at the Royal College Colombo on recently.
