Pallebowila MV, Hanguranketha takes title

Pallebowila MV, Hanguranketha emerged champions of the inaugural girl’s schools boxing championship held on Sunday at Linea Clothing boxing ring in Pallekele winning three gold, one silver and seven bronze medals.

The tournament was conducted for the first time with the participation of 120 pugilists from 22 schools. Narandeniya MV placed second with three gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze while Ellakanda Tamil School finished third with two golds, one silver medal and a bronze medal.

The most exciting fight was in the junior girl’s bout 44 to 46 kg where both best fighter and best loser were found. Winner G.G.D. Kaushalya of Kundasale Arangala MV was the best boxer and best loser was K.G.P. Rashadi of Prajapathi Balika Horana.
