Slimline BC take the 87th ABA Clifford Cup

Slimline BC with five gold medals stamped their supremacy winning the 87th ABA Clifford Cup Boxing Championships which concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo on Friday.

The Slimline boxers continued with their dominance and went on to bag five titles out of the ten finals worked off on the final day to finish well ahead of their rivals, Sri Lanka Navy BC, Sri Lanka Army BC and Sri Lanka Air Force BC.

Slimline BC also produced the Men’s Best Boxer of the meet in the form of M. M. Prabashwara who put up a splendid performance to beat his opponent P.G.E. Madushan of Sri Lanka Air Force BC in the light fly weight 49kg event.

The other gold medal winners for Slimline BC were L.T.B. Rathnadivakara (super heavy 91kg), D. R. Wijeratne (light welter 64kg), P.V.D.D.D. Saparamadu (light 60kg) and N. J.S. Jayaweera (bantam 56kg).
