Chandimal to make his Test captaincy debut on Friday

Dinesh Chandimal, who became Sri Lanka’s youngest-ever captain when he was appointed as their T20 skipper in 2013, is set to make his Test captaincy debut after four years on Friday in a one-off match against Zimbabwe in Colombo.

Chandimal will be Sri Lanka’s 15th Test captain.

Meanwhile, veteran cricketer Upul Tharanga, has been appointed permanent captain of the other formats of the game.

Chandimal the leading ODI run scorer for Sri Lanka in 2016 was dropped for the five-match series against Zimbabwe after the Champions Trophy appearance.
