National Selectors Decide to Give Overall Responsibility to Dinesh Chandimal

The National Selectors on Sunday (23rd September, 2018) decided to appoint Dinesh Chandimal as the ODI captain to lead the team in the upcoming England series.

Accordingly, they have requested Angelo Mathews to relinquish his duties as the National ODI & T20I captain, with immediate effect.

Chandimal, who is already Sri Lanka’s Test captain, has skippered his country in seven ODIs previously, winning five and losing two. Mathews, who was reinstated to the 50-over and T20I captaincy in January, led Sri Lanka in 106 ODIs, winning 49 and losing 51, with one tie and five no results.
