Nishantha shines at Cycling Carnival

Nishantha Dias of Sri Lanka Army Sports Club clinched the men’s open championship at the inaugural Veterans Cycling Carnival which was worked off around the Viharamaha Devi Park in Colombo on Sunday.

This inaugural event was jointly conducted by the Veterans Cycling Association of Sri Lanka, Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka, National Mountain Bike Association and Colombo Municipal Council and was sponsored by Wroom Sri Lanka.

Sudeera Nilanga of Sri Lanka Police Sports Club was placed second in the men’s open event while Kasun Silva of Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club had to be content with the third place.

The significant feature in this event was the participation of some of Sri Lanka’s former cycling stars who arrived from overseas to compete along with the present competitors together with a number of foreign expatriates.
