The 28-year-old absorbed everything that 17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer could throw at him, returning it with pace and power in one of the more memorable four-set finals you’re likely to witness.

Federer rebounded from a disappointing first set, which can only be described as sloppy by his lofty standards, by playing some of his best tennis of the tournament. He mixed up his tactics and kept Djokovic guessing, but the Serb showed why he’s the best returner in the game today and arguably the best hard-court player of his era.

Federer flashed moments of brilliance, but it was Djokovic who came up clutch in the biggest moments as he continually found ways to problem-solve the popular Swiss.
