Mohammad Kaif : One of the best examples of the best use of limited qualification!

http://sportsinfo.lk/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Kaif.jpgMohammad Kaif : One of the best examples of the best use of limited qualification!

It was the time of around mid 90s, and the Nation had been started to be stepped in to new era; the combination of Kumar Sanu with the pair of Nadeem -Sharavn was creating the new definition of the melody music, the rays, were created by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, of Globalization & Liberalization had started to be smelled by Indian economy by passing the time including the new superstar Shahrukh Khan’s charm almost disappear the tension of the Bollywood’ was badly concern for new Superstar. But, amid of this entire above mentioned topics one thing was intact and it was Uttar Pradesh cricket was as poor at it had been continued for last many decades.

It was badly struggling to be young, properly ‘dressed up’, coming out of too negative zone and its inferiority complex could be seen, at that time, in many forms. The team used to be sweated it out even before it had stepped in to the ground against the big teams like Mumbai, etc in domestic circuit’s premier tournament Ranji Trophy. Though, the good talent was always available in form of Ashish Winston Zaidi, Obaid Kamal, but the state was lacking quality batsmen hardly gave the confidence to them that as a unit the team could win the Ranji Trophy.
And not winning this prestigious trophy was one of the too ‘poorest excuse’ was given by the immediate Indian selectors for not to pick any player from the India’s biggest state Uttar Pradesh till the “fortunate twist” took place as Mohammad Kaif has, officially, announced the retirement on Friday from all forms of the game though his career had been over long before as, perhaps, his relevancy was over in Indian cricket because of not only the nature of game going through the transformation, but with the rising of such batsmen had got the mastery in both the arts; attacking & Sheet anchoring. No one realized when & how Sheet anchor word was admitted in to I.C.U and when it left the cricketing world!

Mohammd Kaif has been among those Indian batsmen had, had limited strokes & ability in their kitty. The cricket fans could hardly recall when they had seen Kaif by using his feet & sent the ball over the bowler’s head. It was very much obvious as his strength was always laid-down in single & doubles and he used it brilliantly. He has been perhaps the best example of how one can use his limited ability in best manner while keep improving in other key area (Fielding). He has been seen having swimming through the air in many matches.

kaif (1)

The ‘fortunate twist’ works only for those brave men carry the bucket of never give-up attitude with themselves, and it was reflected more than clearly in Kaif extra ordinary catches and in running between the wicket through which he easily converted the singles in to doubles and two in to three at the cost of non-striker restlessness. Really, these all aspects helped a too lot in stretching his career has decent average (actually almost at par #Virendra #Sehwag in ODI) in both form of the game. Imperatively, former captain #Sourav #Ganguly instantaneous policy; Seven batsman irrespective of conditions, too, provided more than enough help in playing more than 100 ODI as this policy brings many good inning for him.

Here is no doubt that with the changing of the ‘face of cricket’, his style’s relevancy was over long before, but he deserves to be remembered far beyond to his historical inning he played on 13 July, 2002 in Natwest trophy in lords in such crisis when around more than 80 % of Indians fans, including his family, had switched their TV set off in dismay and by assuming that India has lost! Surely, He must be remembered for his never give up attitude and how to make most despite of having limited ability along with the facts; the founding stone which not only ended the negative energy in Uttar Pradesh cricket, but also give the too needed confidence to next Generation; Suresh Raina, Rudra Pratap Singh & Piyush Chawla for that they can achieve the Indian cap even through ‘UP gate’.

And yes the ‘fortunate twist’ in his career was the first live telecast of Under-19 world cup was organized in Sri Lanka. This live telecast not only changed the state of Indian cricket, but also Mohammad Kaif as well as it threw huge impact and changed the parameters of selection.

Just imagine for a while had the tournament not been live telecast, then…??
