Charity golf tournament on September 13

The Royal Colombo Golf (RCGC) in collaboration with Kreative Krib has organized a charity golf tournament to be held on September 13 at the RCGC. The event which has been organized for the 10th occasion has become an annual feature of the Royal Colombo golfing calendar.

The event has been named ‘Swing for Charity’ which will raise funds to provide education to the children of the less fortunate caddies and workers living in the periphery and neighbourhood of the RCGC course.

Meanwhile the Navodya Children Foundation in Mount Lavinia which is a home to over 30 disabled children has been identified to be the main beneficiary this year. They will be provided much needed facilities to ease the pain of the unfortunate children.

“This school and these kids need special attention and care for the upbringing and I hope this event will raise a lot of funds which will be allocated for their betterment,” said Michael Perera, the captain RCGC during a press conference held at the RCGC on Wednesday.

“The event is open for almost everyone and we expect a huge number of participants for this particular tournament. The entry fee for a club member would be Rs. 3000 while a non club member would have to pay Rs. 7500 for the entrance,” he said.

The organisers are also looking to obtain more generous sponsors to help raise the required funds towards this noble and worthy cause.
