Vijaya, St. Anthony’s emerge champions

Vijaya College, Matale and St. Anthony’s College, Kandy emerged boys and girls champions respectively in the Blue and Gold Hockey sevens concluded over the weekend at Royal College Hockey Grounds.

In the cup final Vijaya College, who was the 1st runner up for the last three consecutive years, beat St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy 2-1 after leading 1-0 at half time.

In the Girls tournament, St. Anthony’s College edged out Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo by a solitary goal in extra time after a scoreless final.

Last year’s boys champions Wesley lost to St. Sylvester’s in the semi final, while 2013 girls champions Janadhipathi Balika Vidyalaya also lost in the semi-final to Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo.
