Carlton Super 7′s 2014 : Western Warriors crowned as overall champions

Carlton Super 7’s 2014, one of the biggest rugby carnival in Sri Lanka kicked off on 8th of July. This year more than 50 International Sevens ruggerrites including Twenty Three Fijians, Nine Samoans, Six New Zealanders, Six South Africans, Four Englishmen, Three Australians, Two Tongans, one American and two players from Spain were participated for the fourth edition of the Carlton Supers Sevens rugby tournament which was ended Saturday at the Race Course ground, Colombo.

The first leg of the contest was held in Koggala on August 8 and 9 while the second leg was worked off at the Race Course on August 16 and 17.

Western Warriors emerged as the winners of the first leg by beating Southern Sharks at the Finals.

The second leg was held in Colombo at the brand new Race Course Rugby Stadium on the 15th and 16th of August and was played under lights. After two days of breath taking and brilliant rugby, Northern Gladiators managed to emerge as the winning team of the second leg. They won the finals by beating Western Warriors 24-12.



However the Western Warriors were crowned as the overall Champions of the Carlton Super 7’s 2014 International League.
