Junior Tuskers Claim Bronze Medal

Junior Tuskers finished 3rd after toppling Singapore twice in the tournament. Singapore led 12 – 07 at the half time but Sri Lanka bounced back in the second half to win with a 26 – 12 points. It was a 22 – 12 win against the same opponent in the pool game this morning. Singapore lost 19 – 00 in the other semi final to Hong Kong whilst Sri Lanka went down against the South Korean outfit in a sudden death thriller after the 17 all draw.Harith Bandara scored early in the final game after Gamunu Chethiya’s switch move.

It was followed by Janidu Dilshan who made a stop start for a nearly 80m try. Singapore scored just before the half time through D. Xavier and reduce the deficit by only 5 points. Avishka Lee dotted down the third try for the junior whilst Dinuk Amerasinhe scored the winning try and was his 4th of the tournament. Lica Mognot the Singapore play maker scored a try in the second half but it was too little too late for them.Sri Lanka were the runner-up last year in this tournament and the champions in 2016.
