The batch of ’93 of Wesley College has come forward towards a worthy cause to support extra-curricular activities of the College.

With a successful event held in 2013 to promote swimming among the students, the batch of ’93 has decided to make it an annual event this time in the format of an Inter-House swimming competition.

Wesley College is known to have produced well rounded countrymen to the nation. Wesleyites are known as “Men of grit and industry” who excel in all spheres may it be education or any other extracurricular activity.

Through 140 years of history, Wesleyites, have excelled in many sporting activity producing many national sportsmen in cricket, rugby, hockey etc.

Today; the Class of ’93 has embarked on a project to make history in swimming through Wesley College.

The growing enthusiasm among teachers, parents, students and oldboys since the brand new swimming pool was constructed was taken into consideration.

There was a need to put in place a structure to nurture and develop swimming among the students of Wesley.

The boys of the WCC batch of ’93 who has done many projects to benefit College; identified this need and put together The Annual Swimming Gala.

The aim of this project is to raise funds to sustain the total structure needed to have an effective program to nurture and develop swimming at Wesley, for years to come.

The event shall annually seek contributions from sponsors, well-wishers for this program to nurture, sustain and develop aquatic sports at Wesley College.

The heats of this event were successfully concluded on Saturday the 25th of October 2014, with the participation of hundreds of enthusiastic students in friendly rivalry.

Amazing skills were displayed and many talents were unfolded setting records and breaking many.

The batch of ’93 came together as one fraternal band to make this herculean task a success; ably assisted by the teachers parents and prefects to bring in precise perfection in timing to end all events scheduled for the day, so that the main event on the 1st of November should take off as planned.

The main event on 1st of November will be graced by the renowned sportsman of Wesley, Capt. Navin De Silva as the chief guest. Challenge trophies will be awarded to winners of each category.
