Sri Lanka : 194/4 in 16.4 overs (K Mendis 53, Shanaka 42*, Thisara 39*; Apu 2/25, Afif 1/26, Rubel 1/52)

Result : Sri Lanka won by 6 wickets.

Player of the Match : Kusal Mendis.Bangladesh start the 2-match T20I series with a 6-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Winning the toss, stand-in captain Mahmudullah opted to bat first. Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain, Ariful Haque and Nazmul Islam Apu made their T20I debut today. Soumya Sarkar gave an blistering start to Bangladesh.

Soumya was dismissed after scoring 51 off just 31 balls. Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah guided Bangladesh innings to a big total. Mahmudullah got out on 43 but Mushfiqur remained not out on 66 as Bangladesh posted 193 for 5 in 20 overs.

In reply Sri Lanka had a solid start thanks to Kusal Mendis’s quick-fire knock of 51. Two debutant Apu and Afif picked up couple of wickets but it was not enough. Danus Shanaka and Thisara Perera’s unbeaten 65 runs partnership gave Sri Lanka a comfortable win with 20 balls in hand.

Kusal Mendis was named man of the match.
