SLC Announces Test Squad for the Australia Series

SLC Announces Test Squad for the Australia Series

The Minister of Sports Honorable Harin Fernando approved the following 16 member squad to play the upcoming two test series vs Australia.

Mathews is a notable omission from Sri Lanka’s 16-man squad for the two-Test series in Brisbane and Canberra starting later this month.

Mathews injured himself on the recent tour of New Zealand and while there was an outside chance he would be fit for the second Test of the series at Manuka Oval, he was not named by selectors on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka will tour Australia from 13th January to 06th February, 2019.

The Squad :

1.) Dinesh Chandimal – Captain
2.) Dimuth Karunaratne – Vice Captain
3.) Lahiru Thirimanne
4.) Kusal Mendis
5.) Sadeera Samarawickrama
6.) Dhananjaya De Silva
7.) Roshen Silva
8.) Niroshan Dickwella
9.) Kusal Janith Perera
10.) Dilruwan Perera
11.) Lakshan Sandakan
12.) Suranga Lakmal
13.) Nuwan Pradeep
14.) Lahiru Kumara
15.) Dushmantha Chameera
16.) Kasun Rajitha

Sri Lanka have never won a Test match from 13 attempts in Australia, including a 0-3 whitewash on their most recent tour Down Under in 2012-13.

However, Sri Lanka beat Australia 3-0 on home soil in 2016.

Sri Lanka will play a three-day tour match against a Cricket Australia XI in Hobart next week before the first Test begins in Brisbane on January 24.
