Tour de France , generally known as one of world’s biggest annual sporting event began at Yorkshire on Saturday.

198 bike riders from 22 teams participate for 101th edition of Tour de France this year .

Prince William , his wife Catherine and Prince Harry attended to the royal opening ceremony before the kicked off .

The Duchess of Cambridge was given the honour of cutting the official start ribbon at Leeds before start 190.5km opening stages around Yorkshire .

The 3664 km journey will be ended in Champs Elysees , Paris on July 27 .

The 21 stage race consists of nine flats, five bumpy up-and-down , six mountain stages and one individual time trial .

Defending champion Chris Froome (Team Sky) and current world number one rank holder Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) are among the favorites to win the race this year .
