AIS shines at International Schools Basketball

Asian International School (AIS) clinched the boys Under-19 Inter-International Schools basketball title with a convincing 72-62 win over Colombo International School Kandy (CISK) while Colombo International School Colombo (CISC) held their nerves to clinch the girls championship beating hosts British School in Colombo 46-38 in the finals worked off at the British School indoor courts on Wednesday.

Both AIS and CISK played their hearts out in their quest to annex the premier international schools basketball title but AIS with a good spectator support prevailed to seal a convincing win.

The winners led 36 points to 29 points at the end of the breather and extended the lead to 10 points at the final whistle.

Dimitri Grebe and Bevan Samuel stamped their class collecting 21 points each while Umair Naleer (22) and Salim Khan (18) top scored for the losers.

Earlier in the girls final CISC managed to scrape through to a four points lead at the end of the first half and extended it to eight points at the final whistle to grab the coveted title.
