Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Sugiyama Akiru donated a stock of sports equipment to promote gymnastics in Sri Lanka to the Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa.

Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Sugiyama Akiru donated a stock of sports equipment to promote gymnastics in Sri Lanka to the Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa.

Minister of Youth & Sports Namal Rajapaksa on the same occasion presented the stock of gymnastics equipment handed over at the Torrington Bodybuilding Center in Colombo to the Secretary of the Sri Lanka Gymnastics Association RAK Jeewantha.

The gymnastics equipment donated includes a Vaulting Table, a Runway for Vaulting Table, Vaulting Boards, Landing Mat, a Safety Collar for Vaulting Board and a Mat for Hands.

Meanwhile Sri Lankan gymnast Milka Gehani de Silva was able to qualify for the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Miss Gehani de Silva, who received a scholarship from Japan under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, is undergoing special training in Tokyo and is preparing to represent the motherland in the gymnastics event at the Olympic Games for the first time in the history of Sri Lanka Gymnastics.
