TEMPLE TREES, COLOMBO | Dinesh Priyantha Herath who set a new world record last week in the javelin throw event at the Paralympic Tokyo (2020), and Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku, who won a bronze medal in the same event, met the Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees yesterday (8th September 2021).
Dinesh Priyantha Herath won the gold medal at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, setting a new world record of 67.79 meters in the F46 Javelin Throw event. Samitha Dulan Kodithuwakku won the bronze medal in the F64 Javelin Throw event with 65.61 meters.
The Prime Minister congratulated and highly admired the athletes, coaches and officials on the achievement at the Paralympic Games. The Prime Minister committed that Government will continue to provide the necessary facilities for the training of all players.
Both sportsmen thanked the Minister of Sports and the Government for their support in the accomplishment.
