Ananda College Primary Annual Sports Meet Concludes Successfully..!

The Annual Sports Meet of Ananda College Primary Section was organized by the Primary Section of Ananda College and was held on the 06th of October 2022 at the college grounds.

Starting at 8:45 am, the event was graced by 1996 World Cup Winning Captain Arjuna Ranatunga, a distinguished old boy who was awarded a Deshamanya title and was an all-time cricketing legend. He is currently the as the Chairperson of the National Sports Council.

The deputy education director (Sports & Physical Education) Upali Amarathunga, The Principal of Ananda College Mr. Lal Dissanayake, Vice Principal of Ananda College Randika Perera, Deputy Principal and the Head of Primary Section Nuwan Priyantha, The secretary of the Old Boy’s Association of Ananda College Mr. Sujeewa Rathmahal, The President of Sports Development Subcommittee of Ananda College Old Boys’ Association were also participated for the event.

After the National flag and the College flag were raised, the ceremonial Olympic lamps were lit by the house captains.

The Anandians from grade One to Five Classes participated in the sports meet through the houses of Vijaya, Parakrama, Ashoka and Gamunu. The sports meet featured numerous sports activities such as Running, 4X50m and invited school 4X50m Relay, Gymnastic Display, Drill Display and many more.

There was ample support for all four teams and the support the participants received from their houses was very satisfying.

The Gymnastic Display and Drill Display were beautifully done and they pumped the crowd up. The school ground was glamoured with flags swaying in the light blue sky with the house colours cheering the respective houses.

A day’s sport concluded and after performing a strong play in all events, House Gemunu was crowned as the winners while House Wijaya became the runners-up of the Annual Sports Meet 2022 of Ananda College Primary Section.
